About me…
My art journey
I have been drawing portraits for nearly 50 years. I started just with a graphite pencil then progressed to coloured pencils. Nowadays I am specialising in pastels which can give an amazing boldness and depth of colour whilst at the same time showing great softness.
Since I was a little girl I was interested in art and design. After art college I became a graphic designer progressing to studio manager back in the days before computers were used for designing.
Then during the years I was bringing up my daughter I did the occasional commissioned portrait. In 2010 I trained as a postnatal doula but I still continued to create art using different mediums which was fun.
This year I decided I wanted to do commissioned work again and I was drawn to pastels. I find them very vibrant but at the same time they have such a softness to them in the finished artwork.
My style isn’t photo realism, however I am true to my subject in regards to detail, but with my own style and colour-way that I find I do naturally with pastels.
